About Alex Shissias
After graduating from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law and being admitted to practice in 1996, Mr. Shissias went to work as a staff attorney at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Over the next six years he represented DHEC’s Solid Waste Section, Bureau of Air Quality, Bureau of Water, Laboratory Certification, and DHEC’s Environmental Health Division. He regularly litigated contested cases involving permitting and enforcement matters involving air quality, solid waste, hazardous waste, stormwater, laboratory certifications, and 401 Water Quality Certifications. He also advised DHEC’s Office of Criminal Investigations and was appointed as a Special Assistant Attorney General to prosecute environmental crimes.
In February of 2003 Mr. Shissias started at the law firm of Haynsworth, Sinkler, Boyd, P.A. as an associate, and became a shareholder in 2007. While at HSB his practice emphasized client counseling, site development, environmental compliance, due diligence, environmental auditing, chemicals and consumer product regulation, brownfields and site redevelopment, contaminated site cleanup, superfund, zoning and land use regulation, state procurement, export control, and the state regulation of health care facilities.
In February of 2012 Mr. Shissias established the Shissias Law Firm, LLC, continuing his practice of environmental and regulatory law.
Mr. Shissias was awarded the 2014 Robert D. Spencer Award for outstanding volunteer advocacy by Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc.
Named as one of the 2020 Legal Elite by Columbia Business Monthly in the Environmental Law category.

About John Fantry
Mr. Fantry retired from the Firm at the end of 2020, and remains Of Counsel Emeritus to the Firm.
Throughout his career Mr. Fantry worked with public bodies like municipalities and counties, as well as with nonprofit water and sewage companies throughout the state of South Carolina. Mr. Fantry's knowledge of municipal law is deep and nuanced, stemming from years of experience and a proven track record of optimal outcomes.
John Fantry received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 1974, and was called to the bar the same year. In the early years of his career, he served as General Counsel for the South Carolina Electric Cooperatives from 1974 to 1985. He later worked as an Associate and shareholder of Austin, Lewis and Rogers, P.A. until opening his own practice that offered legal services in municipal law, non profit law and utility law. John Fantry has served as Hearing Officer for the SC Department of Revenue prior to the creation of the Administrative Law Court and also served as Hearing Officer for South Carolina Department of Education and South Carolina Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
Mr. Fantry was recognized in Columbia Business Monthly’s 2019 Legal Elite of the Midlands in the area of Energy and Utilities Law.
